Causes of acne

Almost everyone in the world experience acne during their life cycle. Acne, a skin disorder erupts on the face, shoulders, back and neck in the form of inflamed lesions is a much dreaded skin problem. Even though, the exact causes of acne are yet to be discovered, acne is still considered to be more of a mental than a physical trauma. It causes suffering and embarrassment to the person lowering their self esteem and making them conscious and unsatisfied about their looks all the time.

What causes acne?
The known and researched to be correct causes of acne is the clogging of an enlarged hair follicle with bacteria and oil. This accumulation of excessive sebum leads to the formation of an inflamed lesion that is red in color. As the skin begins to secrete more oil, the growth of acne causing bacteria enhances giving way to more eruptions all over the affected area.

However, people usually believe that eating loads of junk food and not taking proper hygienic measures are the major causes of acne, yet this statement is no more than just a myth. The fact is that acne is usually caused due to the onset of puberty. The age factor combined with certain hereditary skin traits of the person often aggravate acne.

It is basically the hormonal changes that provoke the oil producing glands of the skin. When the skin excretes more oils than required, the open pores of the skin get clogged. As the disproportionately produced oil cells and skin plug the follicles, the glands situated in the skin pores become plugged and bulge with whiteheads. The top of these whiteheads often harden and darken forming blackheads causing acne.

Using excessive and unbranded cosmetics is one other causes of acne. Taking non-prescriptive medicines without the proper consent of the doctor can also stimulate the acne disbursement.

One other causes of acne is pregnancy and the menstruation cycle. Stress and certain drugs like cortisone or testosterone also aggravate acne. Excessive dirt and oily cosmetics are also causes of acne.

Even though, acne is not a contagious condition and can be treated away easily, it is important to remember that if not taken proper care of, acne can transform into painful cysts. Thus, it is advisable to take precautionary measures and remember the causes of acne so as to cure and prevent any further eruptions of acne.
